Speadin' Cheer

Bill and Bryan White took time out during the holidays to visit the local Hospital Hospitality House in Nashville and present donations of food and toiletries from the cast of the Grand Ole Opry. The two also treated residents and staff to an acoustical performance. HHH provides accommodations and meals to persons visiting seriously ill loved ones in Nashville hospitals.

Lovable Bill

Irene Kemper's been a fan of Bill Anderson for nearly 50 years, but it wasn't until her 80th birthday that she met the legend. "I watch him every Saturday on 'Opry Backstage,' but finally seeing him in person, and in my hometown, was wonderful," says Irene, who attended his Lawrenceville, Ga., concert with her daughter, Patricia Szymanski. "He's such a lovable person. When he talks to you, he really makes you feel at home."

Songwriter Of The Year

Bill was named Songwriter of the Year by Sony-ATV-Tree Publishing at their annual Christmas brunch December 12, 1999. Sharing pride in his winning are Sony-Tree Vice President, Woody Bomar; President and CEO, Donna Hilley; and Chief Creative Officer, Don Cook.

Santa Clause Is Comin'

Bill leads fellow Opry member Steve Wariner and Diamond Rio, along with guests Sara Evans and Chalee Tennison, in a rousing version of "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town."

They are joined by a man with a sack on his back handing out gifts who looks a lot more like Garth Brooks than Santa!
