First off, I hope each of you had a wonderful 4th of July holiday, even if it did come in the middle of the week. Not much chance to celebrate around it, but the meaning of the day is what makes it special. That and the fireworks, the barbeque ribs, and the watermelon. God Bless America!
I’m still trying to come back down to earth after my trip to New York and the Songwriters Hall of Fame induction. If you haven’t read about our trip, click on Bill’s Journal. It’s all there…along with quite a few pictures.
Thanks for your wonderful response to the short video I posted a few days ago regarding impostors contacting our fans pretending to be me. Most of all, thanks for not falling prey to their scams and schemes. Please pass the word to your country music friends. It’s not just me that these people are picking on, but nearly everyone in our business. Report them and delete them…and never respond to their requests.
Some of you are telling me that you’ve heard my new record with Jamey Johnson, “Everybody Wants To Be 21” on Willie’s Roadhouse, and you’re wanting to know when it will be released. The actual release date for the single is August 10th, and not only will you be able to download the single then, but we will also begin taking advance orders for our new album, “Anderson,” at the same time. The scheduled release date for the album is September 14th. It’s always an exciting time when we have new music about to come out, but at the same time I always get a little nervous. I keep asking myself, “What if the fans don’t like it?” But you’ve been awfully good to me for a long, long time, and I don’t expect you to start letting me down now.
I hope to see lots of you in Hinton, Oklahoma, on July 14th when Bobby Bare and I will be appearing at the Sugar Creek Casino there. Our booking agency tells me there’s lots of interest from folks wanting to book our American Legends Tour for next year, so stay tuned. Hopefully, we’ll be coming your way!
Be sure to check out our online Store for our “Christmas In July” specials that are posted there now. Our personalized Christmas tree ornaments are very unique and selling fast. Later this summer, watch for a very special sale where we’ll be featuring some brand new one-of-a-kind souvenir items that we’ve never offered before. I don’t want to spoil the surprise, but I think we’ve got some things you’re really going to like.
From the personal corner of my life (there’s a good song title!) things are about the same. The doctors are considering altering my grandson, Gabe’s, chemo medication, and we’re praying for the right decisions there. Gabe spent a week at Camp Horizon again this year where he gets to live and play for a week alongside other cancer patients his age. He came home tired, as he always does, but I think he had fun. His older brother, my 6’5″ basketball playing grandson, Blake, is in a retainer boot right now hoping three hairline fractures in his foot will heal in time for the season tip-off. How did the fractures occur? Why, playing basketball, of course. He eats, sleeps, and breathes it.
My daughter, Terri, and my friend, Vickie, are about the same and, along with the rest of our family, said to thank you for all your kind thoughts and prayers.
Keep cool in this hot weather, and stay in touch. We’ll see you back here again next month. Thanks for everything.
