I’ve travelled over eight-thousand miles, recorded a television special, performed three concerts, and survived a tour bus being attacked by an Audi automobile since you heard from me last.
And I’m here to tell you, happily, that I have survived it all.
A word of advice to each of you: Never attempt to run over a tour bus with a small car. Think Little Jimmy Dickens picking a fight with Trace Adkins. He ain’t gonna win.
As most of you know by now, we were on the way to our show in Dublin, Ireland, in downtown rush hour traffic when an impatient driver tried to take a shortcut through the right rear corner of the bus we were on. We were all surprised and bumped around a bit by the impact, but luckily nobody was hurt. And when you see the photos of the damage to the bus, you’ll realize immediately that the Audi got the worst end of the deal.
The Songwriters Series tour, sponsored by the Country Music Association and Broadcast Music, Inc., was a big success, and I’m really glad I was asked to be a part of it. It was fun getting to travel and perform alongside Clint Black and Bob DiPiero, and I think the audiences enjoyed what we tried to offer. I’m told the BBC television special will air March 25th. I hope our fans and friends who can pick it up will enjoy it.
We flew eighteen hours, went through three security checkpoints, and checked our luggage three times on our way home. It was not the most fun I’ve ever had by a long shot. My body clock is still trying to figure out whether it’s daytime or nighttime, but I’ll get it sorted out soon.
Besides, that’s a small price to pay for the warm welcome the fans gave us on the other side of the world. And I’d do it again.
In fact, I hope someday that I’ll have the opportunity.
I hope all is well with each of you. Thanks for stopping by our website.
