Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
I cannot possibly reply personally to all the e-mails I have received here at our web site following the CMA Awards telecast on Tuesday night, but I do want you to know that I’ve read (and I am continuing to read) your wonderful messages of congratulations following our song, “Whiskey Lullaby” winning Song of the Year for 2005. In my last message in this space I asked you to cross your fingers for us. There must have been an awful lot of crossed fingers all around the world, and again all I know to say is “thank you.”
When I get down off Cloud 9 (and back from a quick personal appearance trip to North Dakota!) I’ll write more about the entire New York experience. It was quite something…from having the chance to appear on stage at Carnegie Hall right down to tucking that incredible award up under my arm inside Madison Square Garden. They may have to surgically remove this grin from my face!
As we approach the Thanksgiving season, I have so much to be thankful for. Mostly my fans, my friends, my co-workers, Jon, Brad, Alison….everybody who contributed to make this very special dream come true. After more than 45-years in the country music business, I thought I had experienced it all. I hadn’t…but right now I feel as though I have.
