1) I am enjoying your newsletter. You mentioned a box set of your music from earlier days. Is it still available? I sure would like to purchase one!
Thank you. Just to be sure, I checked with Amazon and they still have some copies of our box set called “The First Ten Years.” It contains the music I recorded during my first ten years in country music. You can order a copy from them. We are in negotiations now for a second box set, and hopefully, I’ll be able to announce something soon.
2) I was wondering about Snuffy Smith. Is he still alive? I recall he was funny as well as a good drummer. Any info would be appreciated.
You are referring to my original Po’ Boys Band drummer, Snuffy Miller. Sadly, Snuffy passed away a few years ago, but if you remember him as funny and as a good drummer, you remember correctly. He was both, and we had a lot of fun together for many years.
3) Some of my favorite Bill Anderson songs haven’t been the big hits but, instead, are songs like “And Then Came The Bad Years” and “Poison Red Berries.” Have you ever considered releasing a CD of songs buried in albums such as the two above? I think it would be a treat for Bill Anderson fans who may not hear these songs on the radio.
No, I’ve never really considered that…mainly because I wouldn’t know which songs to pick. I have lots of obscure songs!! Box sets are a good place to re-issue these types of recordings, though, because such sets are all-inclusive of songs recorded during particular periods of an artist’s career. If we get our new box set off the ground, hopefully, it will contain some of your favorites.
4) I really like all of your music, but I absolutely fell in love with “Until The Light Comes On Again.” I have tried to purchase it on iTunes but I can’t find it there. Could you tell me where I could buy a digital copy so I could listen to it whenever I wanted?
Thank you. I’m glad you like it. At the present time, I don’t think the recording is available anywhere other than on the updated version of our “Nothin’ But Hits” CD. You can order that from our website at www.billanderson.com. I don’t know all there is to know about the digital world, but I’ll speak to our people about trying to get it released in some additional formats. As you probably know, it’s a very special song to me as well.
Lots of good questions this month…sorry I couldn’t get to them all. I’ll save them for next time as well as encourage you to send any new questions you might have. Our address is email@example.com. Stay curious, and we’ll see you back here in September.
