Christmas Eve with the grandkids is always special. After attending the candlelight service at their church, we adjourned to their house for a fun time of eating, visiting, and swapping presents. L. to R. – Gabe, Sophie, PawPaw, Vickie, Hallie, and Blake. Below is a picture from the very special evening in November when I was accepting the Honors Award from the Nashville Association Of Talent Directors. An evening like that was the farthest thing from my mind back when the black and white picture on the lower right was snapped in 1964. I was performing at an outdoor park near Nashville called Terry Town, owned and operated by longtime fiddle player and recording artist, Gordon Terry. The suit was purple, gold, and white, and I’m sure my boots were white as well. Could you have looked at that guy and predicted the career that lay ahead of him? I’m not sure that I could.
