Hi Gang: Well, I need to begin this month’s newsletter with an apology.
Over the past couple of weeks, several of you have contacted me on Facebook thanking me for the honor of your having been named a “Top Fan” of mine. I had never heard of a “Top Fan” award, and I wrote many of you back saying this must have come from a scammer. We’ve certainly had our share of those.
Imagine my surprise when I learned that this is actually a legitimate award Facebook is now giving to our most active and involved fans, and nobody had told me a thing about it. So, please forgive my ignorance, and congratulations to those of you who are now “Top Fans.” I appreciate each of you, and I’ll try to stay better informed from here on in.
Since our last letter, my new video with Jamey Johnson, “Everybody Wants To Be 21,” has been released, and everyone here in Whisperville is thrilled with the response. After our having over a million-and-a-half views with “Waffle House Christmas,” I wasn’t sure just what to expect this time, but your comments and your sharing it with your friends have both been over the top. Thanks so much, and I hope you’ll keep spreading the word.
The vinyl copies of the album from which came both “Everybody Wants To Be 21” and “Waffle House Christmas” will be here any day now, and I’m hoping lots of you nostalgia buffs will want to add this limited edition pressing to your collections. There’s just something about listening to music with a needle moving over the grooves that can’t be duplicated anywhere else. You can order your autographed copy from our website at www.billanderson.com today.
I teased you a bit last month about a new project we have in the works that we want you to be involved in, and promised I’d let you know more this month. We’re still in the very early stages of putting things together, but we’re wanting to put out another Bill Anderson & Friends cook book…and we want your recipes. Don’t send them yet, but if you’d like to begin thinking about it, that would be great. You might focus on recipes that are special to your part of the country…folks in Texas telling our fans in Maine how to prepare a chicken fried steak, while the fans in Maine tell folks in Iowa how to properly cook a lobster. That kind of stuff. Our last fan club cookbook was a big hit, and we had to have it reprinted several times. This one can be even better, but only if you take part. I’ll be telling you more about it soon.
It’s back-on-the-road time this month with upcoming concert appearances in Weirsdale, Florida, on the 9th and with Bobby Bare in Plant City, Florida, on the 10th. I hope those of you down that way will come see us. And, yes, I’m going to stay over and watch a little Spring Training baseball the following week. Our March Opry dates are the 5th, 19th, 23rd, 29th, and 30th.
That’s about it for this time. Thanks for all you do for us, and remember to hit the “Like” button when you visit us on Facebook. That’s important. See you back here in April.
