So sorry to hear of Mel’s passing. I’ll always remember his show in Sydney, Nova Scotia. He was fantastic!

That my friend was a really nice story about M-M-M-Mel. The gentleman he was, in person on and off stage. I never got to meet Mel or have the chance to chat with him via the incredible internet. But I have never heard a bad word about him. That makes him a great guy. R.I.P old friend, country music as lost yet another of its masters.

I took my dad to see Mel at Gilley’s, after the show he made such an impression on my father that he gave Mel a hug that lifted him off the ground. I will never forget that. My dad lived to be 97 and he never stopped listening to mr. Mel. Miss them both.

I was so surprised to hear the sad news of losing Mel. He was one of the best and I loved his singing and songs. He was one in a million. Prayers go out to his family and friends.

This breaks my heart! Mel is one of the people you want to live forever. I never met a nicer or funnier man than Mr. Tillis. You are home now.
