Oh boy, it’s my favorite month of the year again!
I’m looking forward to cooler weather (now that it’s finally stopped raining), the baseball playoffs (which will include my favorite team, the Atlanta Braves, this year!), and football season (with my Georgia Bulldogs ranked #2 in the country!). It doesn’t get much better than this!
I’ve got to admit, though, that September was pretty special too. Having my 72nd album, “Anderson,” released, establishing a new relationship with the folks at Waffle House restaurants because of a song in the album, and being given the Kris Kristofferson Lifetime Achievement Award for songwriting at the Ryman Auditorium…I won’t be forgetting last month for a long time either. Thanks to all who made each of the events something so extremely memorable.
I’m going to be doing a lot of promotional work on my new record this month…everything from a live radio show with Jeannie Seely for Sirius/XM satellite radio to interviews with newspapers, magazines, and internet sites from coast to coast and around the world. Not many regular terrestrial radio stations play music by folks from my generation anymore, so we have to seek out other ways to get our music noticed. I hope you’ll be hearing us, seeing us, and reading about us a lot in the weeks to come. We’ll try our best to keep you posted on all our activities.
Thanks to those of you who have ordered the new CD from us. You can find the album in lots of places, but when you order through our office each record goes out autographed…and even personalized if you’d like. You can order online through www.billanderson.com and by mail at P. O. Box 888, Hermitage, TN. 37076.
We’ll be on tour the 11th and 12th of October in Shipshewana, Indiana, and doing shows on the 19th in Marion, Illinois, and the 20th in Steelville, Missouri. Come see us if you’re close to any of those places. Our Opry schedule is subject to change, but right now we’re set for two shows each on October 13th and October 27th with Tuesday night appearances on the 16th and the 30th.
My grandson, Blake (all 6’5″ of him), turns sixteen and gets his driver’s license on October 15th, while my granddaughter, Greta, celebrates birthday number 14 on the 23rd. My grandson, Nick, who is a senior in high school, turns 18 on the 27th. Time does have a way of marching on, doesn’t it?
Thanks one more time for all your many kindnesses to me, and I hope you have a great October. We’ll see you back here in November but not on November 1st. I’m going to go into hiding that day and see if I can avoid having to add another candle to my own birthday cake!
Best to all…
